Alex Blania the co-founder of the controversial Worldcoin project has broken the silence after the Kenyan government suspended its activities in the country on Wednesday. Blania on Thursday stated that World coins is built for Privacy and is an identification tool that allows one prove they are unique and human. He however sent an apology to all Kenyans for the suspension.
"Tools for Humanity (TFH) has paused World ID verifications in Kenya as we continue to work with local regulators to address their questions. We apologise to everyone in Kenya for the delay,"

Blania however noted that he anticipates the resumption of operations and will continue with the global rollout.

The Technology involves scanning of one’s eyeballs  by a device known as the ORB.

Interior Cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday had suspended all the World coin activities in the country and any other similar activities that maybe engaging Kenyans noting that the safety of the citizens was paramount.

“Also investigations of the safety and protection of the data being harvested, and how the harvesters intend to use the data is being looked at,” he said.

Prior to the suspension, thousands of Kenyans had flocked different centres in the country to be scanned, however registration was put on hold on Wednesday following the government’s directive.

Worldcoin was co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Alex Blania, and Max Novendstern, and it seeks to provide an inclusive, privacy-preserving, decentralized on-ramp to the global digital economy.
