Governor Kawira Mwangaza of Meru County advocated for increased security measures to safeguard Kenyans pursuing employment opportunities overseas during the second day of the Diaspora Affairs job fare in Meru County.

Following discussions with a delegation from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, led by Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu, Governor Mwangaza praised the department’s efforts to link youth with global prospects.

“We engaged in fruitful discussions on forming a global labor market partnership, aiding Meru residents in securing employment overseas,” stated the Governor, emphasizing the ongoing three-day job fair in Meru County to educate locals on labor migration and safe job seeking practices.

She expressed hope that this initiative would effectively connect job seekers with employment opportunities, benefiting the people of Meru optimally.

Principal Secretary Njogu reiterated the department’s dedication to collaborating with local entities to provide youth with opportunities through the Diaspora Placement Agency (DPA), emphasizing the protection of Kenyan diaspora rights and welfare.

The ongoing job fair aims to disseminate information on diaspora job opportunities, educate attendees on safe job seeking procedures, and underscore the role of various agencies in ensuring secure and lawful migration, mitigating risks such as human trafficking.
