Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has lauded Kenya for its political stability during his visit to State House. He praised Kenya as an exemplary model of political stability and democratic transition in Eastern Africa, highlighting its crucial role as an economic, financial, and developmental hub for the entire region.

Iohannis also commended Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, President Ruto and Kenya for their active participation in climate change discussions. He mentioned joint topics of interest and shared positions on global concerns, leading to an agreement to enhance cooperation in areas vital for both Romania and Kenya, such as environmental protection, addressing climate change, civil protection, education, and green energy.

During the visit, Kenya and Romania signed four significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at State House. President Ruto acknowledged the longstanding cordial relationship between the two nations and expressed confidence that the implementation of these MoUs would strengthen collaboration across various sectors.

President Iohannis, as part of his African tour, is set to visit three more African countries: Tanzania, Cabo Verde, and Senegal between November 14-23.

In the context of the MoUs, the first agreement focuses on Environmental Protection and Climate Change, underlining the shared commitment of both nations to address pressing environmental challenges. The visit and the signed MoUs signal a deepening partnership between Kenya and Romania, with a particular emphasis on mutual cooperation in critical areas.
